Tesla Cybertruck Review: Worse than Majority of All New Vehicles

Tesla Cybertruck Review: Worse than 90% of All New Vehicles

Tesla Cybertruck has been on the roads since the beginning of 2024.  Now, after nearly completing one year in the streets. The reviews are out, and they are not encouraging for the Elon Musk-owned company. Owners of this vehicle are calling it worse than 90% of all new automobiles launched this year.

Despite its amazing design and futuristic specifications, multiple problems have occurred, leading to widespread criticism.

Major Problems in Tesla Cybertruck that Elon Musk Won’t Tell

  • Visibility Issues: Cybertruck has been widely criticized for its poor visibility. Owners often struggle to cope with the surroundings due to its high beltline and a small rear-view mirror. The situation becomes worse when the cargo cover is deployed and puts drivers’ lives in danger.
  • Technical Glitches: Drivers have raised concerns about various electrical issues, including a recall that happened because of an accelerator pedal defect resulting in unwanted acceleration. Moreover, there have been instances of fluctuations in the charging rate causing trouble.
  • Limited Range: While the advertisement displayed a range of up to 320 miles, on-road tests reveal a range as low as 206 miles under certain circumstances. This revelation has upset many potential buyers who expected better performance.
  • Fast-Charging on a Non-Tesla Plug is a Headache: The required adaptor for fast charging your car comes at $250. Well, it’s not a big problem considering the price of the car, however, if you want to charge them with a non-Tesla plug, it will not work properly because of its plastic fenders.

An estimate tells that there are around 40% of the total charging plugs that are not owned by Tesla.

  • Aesthetics Issues: Its “Blade Runner” prop type of unique design has not gained universal acceptance as critics claim that its sharp edges and polygonal shape cause aesthetic inconsistencies including misaligned doors and uneven surface designs.
  • Brittle Wheel Covers: Its wheel covers are aerodynamically designed but are highly brittle to damage from curbs. This has resulted in frequent damage and a lot of monetary losses to the owners.
  • Functional Flaws: The functionality issue is another addition to the list of flaws in Cybertruck. As alleged by drivers, the touchscreen often disturbs them while driving. Moreover, there is no smartphone integration feature available for tech lovers who were expecting seamless connectivity.
  • Safety Hazards: Its unconventional design can also limit its chances of securing safety regulatory approval outside the United States of America. The frunk of the car can even cause injuries when closed with sufficient force.
  • Highly Susceptible to Rust: Although it is made from stainless steel, it is highly susceptible to rust when exposed to materials like grease, oil, and resin. Owners have even complained about the rust spots visible on the car’s body after rain that are hard to clean off.
  • Critical Steering Issue: Multiple owners have raised concerns about its steering shortly after getting one. There’s message “Pull Over Safely: Critical Steering Issue Detected” designates a high voltage system issue and leave drivers helpless.

Why Customer Dissatisfaction is Serious

The owners feel that Tesla largely focused on unique design and innovation rather than the quality of the product which is causing mechanical issues and recalls by the company.

What is Tesla’s Response to These Issues

Responding to these issues, Tesla has openly accepted some of them. Recalled vehicles and is actively working to rectify technical glitches surfaced due to several reasons.

However, critics allege that these efforts are not sufficient due to the gravity of the challenges reported by the owners.

What Lies Ahead for the Cybertruck…?

Tesla, after facing so many backlashes, is trying to rejuvenate Cybertruck’s software by rectifying its design and structural flaws. It has introduced features like “stuck detection” mode to exhibit that it is focusing on the feedback from owners.

Therefore, if it stabilizes manufacturing and implements given improvements. There are high chances that it will regain the trust of its customers.

In Conclusion: Tesla Cybertruck has a Long Road Ahead…!

Tesla Cybertruck was launched a year ago with gull-wing doors to add a futuristic layer with enhanced accessibility and amazing design. However, some major issues have overshadowed its potential capability to disrupt the passenger vehicle market.

The company is working on them but it’s a long road ahead for the giant vehicle to reaffirm its place in the hearts of the people.
