In a shocking series of events, Lebanon was shaken with a series of pager explosions on 17th September 2024, that occurred after handheld Pagers were detonated and led to the casualties ranging over 2700 people.

What Exactly is The Pager?
For those unfamiliar with it, a Pager is a wireless communication device that is used to get confidential information in alphanumeric form or through voice transmission.
It operates via radio signals and was widely used in the later decades of the 20th century, especially for transmitting key messages in emergencies without requiring mobile networks.
A Sinister Use of Obsolete Tech: How Pagers Were Used Here
Earlier reports are claiming that Israel’s intelligence agency Mossad intercepted a shipment of pagers destined for Hezbollah and covertly rigged explosive called pentaerythritol tetranitrate (PETN).
The masterminds then installed a script in those pagers that made their batteries temperature so high that it ultimately resulted in the explosion of PETN.

The Reason Behind the Sudden Blast: A Make-or-Break Moment for Mossad
Hezbollah had become suspicious of the plan after the death of one of its soldiers due to a pager explosion. Mossad plan was to do the blast during a war-like situation.
However, due to the possible exposure, the situation became a make-or-break moment for them and that’s when they decided to go for the sudden blasts.
